Located in the picturesque hamlet of Greta Bridge, this traditional and peaceful hotel is in a beautiful location close to the Tees Valley and Yorkshire Dales.
The Morritt Arms Hotel is Teesdale's hidden treasure, just of the A66, some 9 miles west of Scotch Corner. This 17th century former coaching inn offers a warm welcome to everyone, whether for business or pleasure. In the winter you will be greeted by our roaring log fire in the lounge, while in summer you can relax with a drink in our well-tended gardens.

There are 27 bedrooms in total, 21 in the main building with a further 2 in the courtyard and another 4 in the cottage, all located within the hotel grounds. There is no lift at the hotel as we are a Grade II listed building, so rooms in the main building are located either on the first or second floors. The 2 courtyard rooms are first floor bedrooms; however, each of the 4 cottage rooms are on the ground floor with parking directly opposite. One of these rooms has accessibility for a wheelchair. All rooms allocated will be with double bed unless requested, the exception being rooms for sole use which may be twin bedded, unless otherwise requested.
These rooms are small but perfectly formed and offer a warm feel.
Superior rooms are larger than the standard rooms and have a seating area.
Each bedroom has been individually styled. The largest of the bedrooms each have special feature, such as spa bath, four-poster bed or half-tester bed. These rooms are more lavishly furnished.
The restaurant features vibrant colours, silk blinds, window seat and fun artwork but maintains the quality hallmarks of The Morritt with the original oak panelling and wood block flooring. The Morritt restaurant offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere with a contemporary menu featuring the best of local and continental produce. There are a choice of eating areas, whether your choice be the delightful restaurant, the bistro, or during the summer months, you may choose to have your meal sitting in the beautiful landscaped gardens. The backdrop from here has proved inspirational for many known writers and artists, Charles Dickens being just one! The Dickens Bar is very much a traditional bar in a traditional setting, with its famous mural painted by Gilroy. What could be nicer in those cooler winter months than sitting by the roaring log fire whilst enjoying a pint from the selection of local ales on offer?
