In a haven of tranquillity, surrounded by its own immaculately kept grounds, the hotel is only minutes away from the many famous Tors and villages within Dartmoor. The coast and the major cities of Exeter and Plymouth are within easy driving distance.
Built in the 1870s, the house was once Bovey Tracey Grammar School. The house has since undergone substantial tasteful renovation and now features a mixture of both traditional and contemporary style interiors, which complement the historic Victorian architecture and enhance the warm friendly welcome and attention to detail.

Lead by London trained Executive Chef - Edward Elliot - The Edgemoor kitchen brigade prides itself on the use of local produce. Should you have any speciality dietary requirements, or purely fancy something a bit different, then please let the kitchen know, as, given sufficient notice and subject to availability, they will be delighted to provide it for you. The impressive wine list features over 150 carefully selected wines from all over the globe. Whether dining by the roaring log fire in the winter or on the outdoor terrace in the summer, the atmosphere of the Bar Bistro is relaxed and casual. Open for dinner, 7 days a week, you can enjoy a simple glass of wine and an appetiser or a full meal - the choice is yours. Reservation recommended. Private lunches can be arranged on request.
By Car: From the south. - Take the M5. - Join the A38 towards Plymouth. - At the Drumbridges intersection, take the A382 towards Bovey Tracey. - Continue straight on at the first roundabout. - Turn left at the second roundabout (B3387) towards Haytor and Widecombe. - After half a mile, fork left towards Haytor. - You will find the hotel a quarter of mile further along on the right. There is ample car parking in the grounds. By Train: The journey is under 3 hours from Paddington London to Newton Abbot (7 miles from hotel).
