On the edge of Dartmoor National Park, this 17th century coaching inn has been refashioned into an award-winning townhouse hotel, brasserie and wine bar.
Browns Tavistock boasts well-equipped accommodation combining modern facilities with original features. The stylish Brasserie offers sophisticated cuisine made with locally sourced produce. Explore the chic surroundings and you'll be able to enjoy a glass from the hotel's extensive wine cellar. In the winter you can relax on the comfortable sofas in front of a blazing real log fire and during the summer months you can relax in the courtyard and soak up the sun in the airy conservatory, where you will find a functioning freshwater well that is said to date back to Roman times.
Such features are further complemented by a modern gym facility, making Browns the 'Town Hotel of the Year, 2006' according to the prestigious 'Good Hotel Guide Cesar Awards'.

These room are located in the mews which was originally the stables for the coaching house, dating from 1898 and built by The Duke of Bedford. This double room is specifically planned to offer a welcoming and calm ambiance. The exposed original roof timber beams add to the feel with a hanging 5 spoke chandelier centre lighting piece. Natural light oozes through the 2 double windows with views over the courtyard. The windows sit in Victorian slate window sills. To compliment this room type further, they feature a raised platform area with antique fishing buoys for decoration.
