Awarded 4 silver stars, this charming 19th-century house provides friendly, comfortable accommodation in the traditional Lakes town of Windermere. Ellerthwaite Lodge is just a 10-minute walk from the train station.
A 4-star guest house, Ellerthwaite Lodge was refurbished in 2008 and now provides stylish en suite rooms, each with bespoke furnishings and a flat-screen TV.
The guest lounge provides a relaxing area, with panoramic views and leather sofas.
The lodge is just a 2-minute walk from tranquil Windermere town centre, with its variety of shops and its selection of good restaurants.
The village of Bowness and the shores of Lake Windermere are also just a short stroll away, providing the opportunity to try your hand at a number of water sports.

The hotels main priority is for guests to feel relaxed and comfortable in a fresh and clean environment. Each of the 16 non-smoking, en suite rooms varies in shape and size, some with roof features and exposed beams, others with high ceilings, no room is the same. Dressed with bespoke soft furnishings, luxury 1200 pocket mattresses, Philips 20 inch flat-screen TV’s, aromatherapy toiletries, hairdryers, iron boards (available at reception), tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities. There are 4 rooms located on the ground floor and, due to our detached location in Windermere, most of the rooms on the first and second floors have excellent views over trees and roof-tops to the surrounding countryside. Because the hotel understands that you are here to relax, the lodge provides you with a key so you can come and go as you please. In return, the lodge simply asks that other guests’ relaxation is respected by keeping noise to a minimum.

The lodge serves a Cumbrian Breakfast (08:30 - 09:30), which can be enjoyed in either of the 2 bright, spacious and tastefully decorated dining rooms. In one of the rooms is a charming grandfather clock. As the lodge is only 2 minutes from the centre of the town, it has selected to only cater for breakfasts, so you can enjoy the many restaurants and bars in the town.
By Car: From the M6: - Depart the M6 at exit 29. - Turn left on to the 1st ramp then take the ramp left to the M6 again. - Take junction 36 exit left toward South Lakes/A590/Kendal/A65/Barrow/Kirkby Lonsdale/Skipton. - You will come to a roundabout. - Exit the roundabout at the 5th exit on to the A590 and bear right (north-west) on to the A591. - Pass through one roundabout and bear left (west), and then bear left (south-west) onto the High Street. - Turn left (south) onto Victoria Street then left (south) again onto the A5074/Crescent Road. - Turn right (west) onto Rayrigg Gardens and the Lodge is the 1st left after Ellerthwaite Road.
