Come and make yourself at home at this charming family-run inn. This traditional, bustling village hostelry makes everyone feel welcome and offers comfortable accommodation at great-value rates.
The Longlands remains fiercely independent with no brewery or theme-pub chain to tell us how to run things. This means that we can choose the very best beers and wines for our bar, the freshest ingredients for our menus and individual furnishings for each of our rooms.
Come and spend a while and let us tempt you with our friendly hospitality. We are lucky enough to be right next to Tewitfield Locks on the Lancaster Canal, at the edge of a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Just a mile from junction 35 of the M6 motorway, we are perfectly placed for days out to the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales, the seaside at Morecambe, and the historic city of Lancaster.

All of the rooms are unique, distinctive and individually designed, with an eclectic mix of the old and the new. Some rooms have stylish contemporary beds and others feature old-fashioned brass bedsteads. Rooms have Vi-Spring mattresses and bright new bathrooms, piled high with fluffy white towels. Each room has tea/coffee making facilities featuring fresh coffee provided by the local coffee merchant, Atkinsons of Lancaster. The Lapwing rooms at the newer side of the inn have views out towards the new marina. These rooms are more spacious with large windows making the rooms bright and airy. The rooms have huge comfortable beds to spread out in. The Coach House rooms are in the older part of the inn and although they are smaller, they are full of charm and have views out over the fields.
The restaurant is Longlands' pride and joy. As you would expect, as much as possible is sourced locally and luckily Burrows of Sliverdale and Port of Lancaster Smokehouse are found nearby, to name a few local champions. Everybody is welcome - large groups, children, romantic twosomes and people eating alone. The menu changes seasonally and there are fresh market specials everyday .
