Set in the heart of St Michael's Village, a historic area of St Albans, this traditional 18th century inn provides a relaxing retreat away from the stresses of everyday life.
Originally built in the 1700s, the Black Lion has been extensively refurbished to provide contemporary design and modern comforts, whilst still retaining its historic charm and features. The fine dining restaurant and champagne bar have also been refurbished to offer an elegant and stylish environment.
The Black Lion boasts an ideal base for exploring St Albans and the surrounding areas; the town centre is just a short walk away, as is the park where monks bred fish for the monastery over 1000 years ago.

The Black Lion Inn features 16 individually designed rooms, all of which have been refurbished yet retain their original features, style and charm.
The Savanna restaurant has recently reopened following an extensive refurbishment. Created by Head Chef Andrew Knight (who trained under the watchful gaze of Michel Bourdin, Angela Hartnett and Jean-Christophe Novelli), the menu features a choice of modern European cuisine. Breakfast is served Monday to Friday from 07:15 to 09:30 and on weekends from 08:00 to 10:00, non-residents welcome. Lunch is served Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 14:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 to 15:00. Dinner is served Monday to Saturday from 19:00 to 21:00. The restaurant is closed on Sun evening. The Savanna bar serves an extensive range of fine wines, cocktails and real ales.
By Car: - Take the M25. - Exit at 21a Northbound or 22 Southbound. By Train: There is a regular service (every 10-15 minutes) between London and St Albans.
