Dating back to the 16th century, the George houses 6 comfortable en suite rooms above a renowned pub; an entry for the Good Beer Guide 2009, it serves a range of cask ales and a varied pub menu.

All children are welcome. All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All older children or adults are charged GBP 20.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
The hotel has 4 double rooms and 2 twin rooms mainly located over the public bar and dining areas, some general noise may be heard but is kept to a minimum. Room 6 has a 4 -poster bed whilst room 4 has a relaxing spa-bath.

Listed in the Good Beer Guide 2009, the hotel has a Cask Marque award for serving quality cask ales. The authentic real ales are on offer along with lagers, mild, cider and stout. A good wine list is also available, with a fine selection of bottled beers, ciders and soft drinks also on offer. Breakfast is served from 08:30 to 09:30, Monday to Friday. Food is served from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00, Monday to Friday; as well as from 12:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays and from 12:00 to 20:00 on Sundays. The specials board features homemade dishes.
The village is just off the A624 between Chapel-en-le-frith and Glossop, 15 minutes drive north of Buxton. The nearest train stations are at New Mills (3 miles) and Glossop (4 miles). Manchester Airport is 17 miles away.
