Samphire at Ham, the new restaurant at The Blazing Donkey, was opened to critical acclaim in February 2008 by Aldo Zilli, Italian celebrity chef, author and restaurateur. The restaurant claims to offer "fine food, casually", the motto of Steve Hogben-Lambert, head chef, who offers locally sourced, freshly prepared produce on a cooked-to-order basis. With so many harbours within easy reach, fish is a particular favourite of Hogben-Lambert's, although there are plenty of other dishes from which guests may choose. Dining guests can expect to dine in most comfortable surroundings; seated in cosy leather chairs, eating over large oak tables and attended to by professional, courteous waiting staff. Winter log fires are always ablaze, and in the warmer summer months, the terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, overlooking the beautifully tended gardens. Samphire at Ham is open every day for lunch and dinner and all day on the weekends.
