Built in around 1850, the guest house today offers high-quality accommodation for walkers, riders, cyclists, business people and holidaymakers. The peaceful, tranquil location makes the guest house a wonderful, relaxing base from which to explore the Newtown area and Mid-Wales.
The guest house is set in 4.5 acres of garden and paddocks in the beautiful Kerry Valley. All of the rooms have fine views of the gardens and the valley. Each charming en suite room is well equipped with modern facilities such as satellite TV, DVD players, tea/coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi wireless internet access on request.
With wonderful views over the garden, the guest drawing room is perfect for relaxing. The guest house also has a tennis court, kennels for dogs and horse stables.

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, a fixed amount of GBP 30.00 will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

All the charming and comfortable rooms are well equipped and individually decorated. Each room is named after a local forest and has pleasant views over the gardens. Bedroom linen and large quality bathroom towels have been chosen with comfort as a priority. Fold-out beds for children under 13 years of age or full-size single beds for adults over 13 can be provided in the larger rooms at an additional cost.
Hafren is a room with a super-king-size four-poster bed. The room has stunning views over the gardens. The room is suitable for a couple, a family (up to 4) or luxury single use. A standard single bed is provided when booked for single occupancy. Extra beds come at an additional charge (see Hotel Policies), but a baby's cot can be provided free.
Radnor is an en suite twin or double room with beautiful views over the gardens.
This room has a king-size bed and stunning views over the hills. Bedroom linen and large, quality bathroom towels have been chosen with comfort in mind. The room is suitable for a couple, for single occupancy or for a family of 3. Extra beds come at an additional charge (see Hotel Policies), but a baby's cot can be provided at no charge.
Ceri and Vyrnwy are the 2 double rooms. Both offer stunning views over the gardens. The room is suitable for a couple, but if you wish to book one of these rooms for single occupancy then please reserve Ceri / Vynrwy – Double Room for Single Occupancy. The Forest Country Guest House offers both traditional freshly cooked breakfasts and vegetarian alternatives. All of the breakfasts are prepared using high-quality ingredients and organic and locally sourced produce is used whenever possible. Those with special dietary needs can be accommodated by prior request. Please contact the hotel in advance in order to inform them of your requirements, using the contact details supplied on your confirmation email. As well as a full traditional cooked breakfast, breakfast usually includes a variety of fruit juices, fresh fruit salad, a choice of cereals, toast, Welsh cakes, butter and preserves. Coffee, tea and herbal and fruit teas are available to accompany your breakfast, and there is also a vegetarian option available. For evening meals, the closest restaurant is the newly refurbished Kerry Lamb, just 1 mile (1.6 km) away. There are also a number of restaurants in Newtown and the surrounding area. Alternatively, takeaway meals can be brought back to the guest house to be eaten in the dining room. The guest house also keeps a range of pre-cooked meals. A kitchenette with a microwave and a fridge is available for guests to use. The guest house can also provide children's early evening meals by prior arrangement.
By Car (from Newtown): Kerry lies on the A489, the main road to Newtown. - Take the A489 and just before you enter Kerry, take the right turning, signposted The Forest into Gilfach Lane. - Follow this narrow winding lane for approximately 0.75 of a mile (1.2 km), ignoring the satellite navigation system, if you have one. - You will pass a left fork and later a right fork after the bungalow; do not take either, stay on the lane. - The entrance to The Forest Country Guest House has black metal gates and is on the left-hand side, just past the brook. By Train: The nearest main line railway station is in Newtown, 3 miles (5 km) away. Newtown train station offers direct links to several major cities, such as Shrewsbury, Birmingham and London. By Air: The nearest airport is Manchester Airport, which is one hour and 30 minutes' drive from the guest house.
