The menus changes seasonally and there is also an extensive and imaginative bar menu which changes daily. The very large modern bar area is situated at the front of the hotel. This area has been refurbished to a very high standard of style and comfort. The bar offers a range of local ales, premium lagers and a fine selection of wines by the glass or bottle. Light snacks, lunches and evening meals are served in the bar area, throughout the day, from 10:00 to 22:00. There is also an excellent value-for-money senior citizens menu for older guests. You can also catch up with the latest sporting events on the bar's wide-screen plasma TVs.
Harleston is only 2 hours from London. By Car (from the A14, heading west towards Ipswich): - A few miles past Stowmarket on the A14, there is a junction for the A140. - Take the A140 towards Norwich. - After about 13 miles (21 km) you will come to a roundabout at Scole; take the 3rd exit (right) onto the A143 towards Bungay, Beccles and Lowestoft. - After about 6 miles (10 km) on the A143, you will come to a small roundabout, take the 1st exit (left), which will lead you up a hill and into Harleston. - Follow this road through into Harleston, where you will come to the marketplace. - The JD Young Hotel overlooks the marketplace and is easy to locate. Parking: Parking can be found towards the rear of the hotel, along with the hotel's reception. By Train: The nearest train station is at Diss. Trains run regularly between Diss and London Liverpool Street, and between Diss and Norwich, with trains leaving every half hour. Taxis are readily available from just outside the station.
