The Lord Nelson Suite consists of one room with a large double bed and a separate sitting room, joined to the bedroom by a short hallway. The sitting room has a large sofa bed and a small kitchen unit with a microwave and the necessary plates and utensils. The bathroom includes a top-of-the-range whirlpool bath, with hand shower. There is also bathroom scales, a shaving point (with mirror) and 2 bathrobes. The room also includes 2 state-of-the-art LCD televisions (1 in each room), free Wi-Fi and a Playstation 2. Please note that although the suite is located in the basement it has natural daylight in both rooms. The sitting room also looks out onto a small pretty courtyard. The room is named after Lord Nelson who visited Southend, as did his mistress Emma Hamilton, in 1803 and again in 1805. No extra bed available in this room. This double en suite room has been lovingly restored and decorated to reflect the style of the Georgian period. The room has a desk and enjoys views out to the garden and seating area. The room is named after Prince Regent, the future George IV, who came to Southend in 1809 after deciding that the sea air would provide a healthier environment for his wife, Princess Caroline, as she had been advised to visit and bathe in the sea by her practitioner.
